Ahead of His BKFC Debut Former Champ Luke Rockhold Left Inspired by “F***ing Gangster” Israel Adesanya

Former UFC champion Luke Rockhold will be making his bare-knuckle debut against former UFC rival Mike Perry on April 29 at BKFC 41. He recently made an appearance on the ‘Submission Radio’ podcast and revealed that middleweight champion Israel Adesanya inspired him with his emphatic knockout win over Alex Pereira at UFC 287.

Luke Rockhold is a former UFC middleweight champion who left the UFC earlier this year. However, he decided to venture into another combat sport, bare-knuckle boxing, which will be his first fight after leaving Dana White’s company. But he didn’t stop catching all the action inside the Octagon.

During the recent podcast appearance, Rockhold shared his thoughts on Izzy’s triumphant outing at Miami on April 8. He lauded ‘The Last Stylebender’ for his performance.

The former champion believes that Adesanya inspired him the same way he inspired him when Izzy was young. “Yeah [found Adesanya’s KO inspiring]. No doubt. Definitely, this has been, you know, I inspired Izzy when he was younger and he’s inspiring me now,” said the former champion.

Luke Rockhold also mentioned that people should be able to draw inspiration from as many people as they can. He added, “You need to draw inspiration from everybody. He was a f***ing gangster.”

Rockhold may consider returning to the UFC

When the former champion was asked if he’d consider coming back to the premier MMA organization, he indicated that anything can happen if the price is right. He said, “Who knows? I don’t know if I am gonna go back or not. If it’s on my terms, I might still go back. You never know.”

The 38-year-old veteran also mentioned that he isn’t thinking about the UFC at the moment. He wants to keep working on his current venture and make an impact in what he’s doing.

It will be interesting to see if Luke Rockhold really decides to come back into the UFC due to the strain in his relationship with the UFC president. As a free agent, Rockhold wanted to examine what options were available to him as a result of difficulties with the business side of things at UFC. We will have to wait and see what follows.
