Aleksandar Rakic will take the spotlight at UFC 300 once again as he takes on Jiri Prochazka. Given how this fight is a potential title eliminator for the 205 lbs division, fans and pros are talking numbers stats of both the fighters. But for now, let’s deviate a bit.

Both Rakic and Prochazka have signature personas and aura to them (Prochazka’s evidently more pronounced than Rakic’s). And as Rakic sets up for what is probably the most important fight of his career so far, we take a look at an important aspect of his persona – tattoos.

The most prominent tattoo on his body is a beautiful tribal piece that goes from his right chest and shoulder down to his wrist. It is quite a detailed tattoo with many different elements, starting with what looks like a Koi fish, a pair of crowned ‘laugh now, cry later’ masks, as well as scales.

The Koi fish is a prominent motif in some South-East Asian cultures and symbolizes perseverance and having overcome low phases of life. The mask, on the other hand, stands for the duality of life, while the scales probably are representative of his belief he cannot be hurt since the purpose of scales in reptiles and fish is to protect them. But wait, there’s more.

On the upper part of his right thigh, Aleksandar Rakic has a lion. This could represent courage, strength, aggression, and pride and captures Rakic’s aggressive yet courageous personality in the ring. His right upper arm bears a tattoo of a cross and a rose, with the former being the most prominent symbol of Christianity, reflecting his strong faith, while the rose represents love and friendship.

Below his left pec, the Serb has a tattoo of his son’s name, “Andrej” in cursive letters – clearly a symbol of his love and commitment to his family. On the upper part of his left pec is the statement “Ready for War.” His left forearm bears another tattoo written in the Cyrillic script that says, “Fighting is worth it” when translated to English. This phrase is clearly a representation of his commitment to fighting.

Rakic may be coming off of a loss to former champion Jan Blachowicz in January 2022, but if he manages to win his next fight, he will probably fight for the light heavyweight title soon. The Austrian will face former champion  who is also coming off a loss to Alex Pereira in a title bout late last year. Given both men’s aggressive and high-volume striking style of fighting, the bout is expected to be an electrifying affair.
