Will Alex Pereira go in with a revenge mentality at UFC 300?

Jamahal Hill dominated Glover Teixeira at UFC 283 when they came face to face for the vacant light heavyweight title. ‘Sweet Dreams’ encountered both Teixeira and Pereira at the event. Hill’s octagon dominance gave way to Teixeira’s retirement. Fast forward to 2024, Hill and Pereira stand against each other. Will the light heavyweight champ enter with revenge on his mind? For Pereira, the answer is a big no.

During a conversation with Ariel Helwani on ‘The MMA Hour,’ Pereira asserted that he would approach a fight against Hill as a new man. His mind is not currently seeking revenge; instead, it is calm. “I’m gonna fight him like if I had never fought over this stuff.”

He further stated “Sometimes you can take certain things to heart, just like on the street. If a guy starts brawling with your brother, you get angry because it’s your brother. You go over there, get beat up, and you get knocked out. So, he tries to avoid bringing that type of emotion inside. He just focuses on good diets, good rest, and good training. He goes over there and performs.”

Sweet vicarious redemption for Glover Teixeira?

Teixeira expects Hill to be KO’d at the UFC 300 main event. While having a conversation with Combat Sports UK, Teixeira stated  “The game plan is turn up and knock him out, This is it, easy.”

Interestingly, Hill is on a four-fight winning streak, and putting him down to sleep might be a difficult task; but, Teixeira seems to have a plan for ‘Sweet Dreams’.

He further added “He’s a great fighter. Good on the ground, he’s athletic, he’s got great boxing, good power and he’s a young guy in the game. He’s a good fighter… it’s just Alex’s striking is in a different dimension and his wrestling and jiu-jitsu is getting so good in every fight. It’s too much for Jamahal,”

The defending champion, Alex Pereira is on a 2-fight winning streak. It must be noted that Pereira’s has one of the best knockout ratios in the game and it might prove lethal for Jamahal Hill. Who do you think would throw the finishing punch? Tell us about it in the comments below.
