Alex Pereira silenced everyone with his performance at UFC 300 today. The Brazilian knocked out the challenger Jamahal Hill in the first round. Before entering the fight, experts felt that Hill would dethrone Pereira as the new champion. However, ‘Poatan’ kept his composure and landed a left hook that shut the lights out for ‘Sweet Dreams.’

The light heavyweight champion has always been willing to feature at the UFC 301. Many believed that a win at UFC 300 would guarantee him a spot there. But whom should he face there?

Alex Pereira wants to take on Magomed Ankalaev next

Magomed Ankalaev had called out the light heavyweight champion after his win at UFC Vegas 84. The fighter is on a 10-fight winning streak and a force to reckon with. He caught the attention of Pereira’s team as his coach replied to the fighter with a tweet on X. However, it now seems that the champion also wants to face him inside the Octagon. After successfully defending his title against Hill, Pereira is now ready for his next challenge. A recent post by MMA Orbit on X reveals Ankalaev could be his next opponent.

The caption reads, “Alex Pereira says he’s not interested in re matching Jiri Prochazka next, but would do so if the UFC want it. He named Magomed Ankalaev as someone he’d like to face instead. His ideal return date would be #UFC 301 in three weeks but understands that’s unlikely.”

UFC 301 is all set to take place in Brazil and the fans would be excited to witness the Brazilian there. However, it depends on the UFC whether Pereira would feature in it or not. Pereira surprised everyone with his performance and celebration inside the Octagon today. He even did the famous celebration of Khaby Lame after knocking Hill out. However, during the post-fight interview, he revealed his next move.

Alex Pereira has his eyes set on the heavyweight division next

Yes, you read it right. The current light heavyweight champion wants to move to the heavyweight division next. Pereira has always been interested in the heavyweight division. But it now seems that he is determined to make the move. During his post fight interview stone faced Pereira revealed his future plans to Joe Rogan. He said, “You know, I wanna keep to continue to defend this belt.

The Champion further added, “Thought a lot about fighting in Brazil. I won this fight and I’m not hurt, nothing happened. I know there should be a lot of promotion behind a fight, but you know, I wanna have a fight at heavyweight,” 

The Brazilian has already proved himself in two different divisions in the UFC. It will now be interesting to see whether he makes a move to the heavyweight division or not. The former kickboxing champion does have what it takes to survive in that division. However, only time will tell whether he can do it or not.
