A large chunk of UFC fans might agree that it must have been really hard for the former UFC Middleweight champion, Alex Pereira, to get over his defeat against his archrival Israel Adesanya at UFC 287. Further, some constant online trolling from ‘Izzy’ after his victory over Pereira made things even harder for him. But, a recent video on ‘Poatan’s’ own YouTube channel revealed that he was still keeping an eye on the events surrounding his archrival, Adesanya, and the UFC Middleweight championship.

Numerous UFC fans might already be aware that the promotion has worked out a Dricus Du Plessis vs Robert Whittaker bout, which could also be called a virtual title eliminator. Reportedly, the victor of this bout will get the next shot at ‘Izzy’s’ Middleweight championship. ‘Poatan’ dissected the situation and gave out his opinion about who ‘Izzy’ might want as his opponent for his next title defense. Further, he also backed Whittaker, in order to make him believe that “Adesanya’s not invincible”.

Alex Pereira asked Robert Whittaker to take inspiration from him

Apparently, Pereira considered ‘The Reaper’ to be the favorite to win the virtual title eliminator bout. He also knew that ‘The Reaper’ currently held a 0-2 record against ‘The Last Stylebender’. Hence, he provided some motivation to ‘Izzy’s’ next possible opponent.

The translation of Pereira’s Portuguese words read, “Whittaker already knows that it’s difficult[to beat Adesanya]. In my opinion, he had two hard fights even getting knocked out in the first fight”. But he also appreciated Whittaker’s improvement, saying, “The second fight was already a harder fight”.

‘Poatan’ also placed his belief in ‘The Reaper’ stating, “I’m sure Whittaker will be better in the third fight”. Pereira also described how Whittaker, who now knew, “Adesanya is not an invincible guy” would be “very dangerous” in his trilogy bout against ‘Izzy’.

The coveted scrap between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson in 2002 was when I realized the passion for combat sports within my family. My interest in combat sports began watching scripted pro wrestling shows. It was my father who directed me towards combat sports and it wasn’t until the late 2010s that I discovered the world of MMA and the UFC.
