Alex Pereira impressed the fighting community once again with his phenomenal striking prowess, defeating Jamahall Hill with a knockout at UFC 300. While the main event saw the victory of a Brazilian, there was another countryman who faced a terrible loss.

Charles Oliveira was defeated by Arman Tsarukyan via split decision. This took a great toll on Oliveira. It’s not an unknown fact that after losing his belt to Islam Makhachev, ‘Do Bronx’ went radio silent to cope with the loss. With this in mind, ‘Poatan’ shared a few words about his fellow Brazilian mixed martial artist.

In a recent interview with Laerte Viana, ‘Poatan’ shared a message for ‘Do Bronx’. He said, “I’ve been through this, [Charles] has to see if he made a mistake. Sometimes we lose, but not because we made a mistake. He has to see if there will be changes, do something different.”

Pereira is no stranger to losing a title fight. Given the history of his rivalry with Israel Adesanya, the light heavyweight champion knows what conspires in a fighter’s mind following a disappointing loss. But to grow as a warrior, one has to look into their previous fights and struggle to be a better fighter. The champ advised Oliveira to do the same.

The ‘Stone Hand’ continued, “Nobody knows what he’s going through outside the world of fighting too. The important thing is for him to know if there is something to correct and try to fix it somehow.” Oliveira has gone silent regarding his return and future matchups. However, with Pereira backing him up, the former lightweight champ can be expected to make his return to the Octagon soon.

Let’s take our focus to Pereira’s future. What does he plan on doing after successfully defending his belt? Well, seems like he is interested in tackling the heavier guys in the promotion.

In the interview with Joe Rogan following his victory, Pereira revealed his desire to go heavier. “You know, I wanna keep to continue to defend this belt. Though a lot about fighting in Brazil. I won this fight and I’m not hurt, nothing happened. I know there should be a lot of promotion behind a fight, but you know, I wanna have a fight at heavyweight.”

The Brazilian has fought eight times in the UFC and is already a two-division champion. But his challenges have only begun. Entering the heavyweight realm means inviting a fight against Jon Jones.

UFC just announced UFC 304 for July in Manchester, England. Interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has confirmed he would be fighting on the card, defending his interim title. Will it be against Pereira? The pair has been teasing a potential showdown via their social media posts.

The world of mixed martial arts is assured to be entertained with even more impressive fights. The fans also remain hopeful that Oliveira will follow Pereira’s advise and rise back up to dominate the Octagon once again.
