Jamahal Hill is gearing up to reclaim his title from Alex Pereira at UFC 300 and there seems to be no bad blood between the two! Hill won the UFC light heavyweight title in January 2023 at UFC 283 where he defeated Glover Teixeira, ‘Poatan’s friend and mentor. However, he had to relinquish the title due to suffering an Achilles tendon rupture a few months later.  This led to Pereira securing the vacant title at UFC 295 in November last year when he finished former champion, Jiri Prochazka in the second round of their fight.

Ahead of their UFC 300 clash, concerns have also been raised by many prominent figures in the MMA world about Hill’s injury and the impact it may have on his performance. Joe Rogan recently stated on the JRE (Joe Rogan Experience) MMA Show no.154, “Yeah, well, god damn it would suck if he came in at 70% …”

Despite the competitive nature of their upcoming bout, a recent interaction between Hill and Pereira showcased a surprising display of mutual respect. In a video shared on Instagram, it was revealed that “Alex and Jamahal’s first interaction, Jamahal got everyone on the UFC 300 card to sign his hoodie”.

Joe Rogan also shared the video on his Instagram story where Hill can be seen asking Pereira the meaning of the phrase, ‘Chama’, which Pereira frequently uses and has also become a meme in the community. ‘Poatan’ explained that ‘Chama’ means ‘Let’s go’, something both fighters can relate to as UFC 300 draws closer.
