A few days ago, Dana White shared the renderings for the UFC White House event, and it has created quite the buzz. Meanwhile, the fight card is still under discussion, with many prominent UFC stars making their wish to fight on July 4 next year known to the CEO. Meanwhile, former two-weight champion Alex Pereira doesn’t seem too interested in chasing a place on that card just yet.

Former champions like Jon Jones and Conor McGregor have all expressed their wish to fight on the card. Bruce Buffer will be there for sure, and it will be quite interesting to see him announce both of these fighters as ‘The One, the Only’. Well, it would be a great sight to see Alex Pereira fighting on that card as well, since he’s the only other fighter to get the same label as Jones and McGregor, but he’s not worried about that.

Magomed Ankalaev first, and then maybe Alex Pereira will think about the White House
At UFC 313, Alex Pereira‘s fans got silenced after Magomed Ankalaev delivered a clinical performance, beating ‘Poatan’ at what he’s good at: striking. Now, the rematch is approaching fast at UFC 320, and this time, Pereira’s the hunter who’s looking to regain the title. So, he made it clear what his main objective is at the moment. “Right now, I’m focusing on these fights,” Pereira said on The Brian Campbell Experience.

The former champion admitted that he’s aware of the other fighters scrambling to get on the White House card and understands why it is a significant event. However, Alex Pereira claims that he was unsure about Dana White and Co. being able to pull this event off at the Oval Office, which is the US President’s residence. Now, the plans for the event are underway, but Pereira’s focus remains on UFC 320, given that his rivalry with Ankalaev has heated up and ‘Poatan’ has promised to “slap him” when they meet again inside the Octagon.

“I saw when the White House card was announced, I was even questioning myself how they could do a fight in the White House,” Alex Pereira added. “I know it’s important for everybody, and many guys are asking for it. But now I want to see how the fight goes first.”
With just over a week to go for the rematch, Alex Pereira also opened up about what went wrong during the initial encounter against Magomed Ankalaev. It appears that the Brazilian star was not his full self on the night of UFC 313. Here’s what he had to say.
Pereira claims he was only 40 percent at UFC 313
People criticized Alex Pereira after his UFC 313 loss. He had been travelling around the world prior to that fight, which, according to many, was the reason why he lost, since he did not have a proper camp. But Pereira claims he never thought he could go out and fight that night because he had a lot of stuff going on. While he did not specify what the real issue was, ‘Poatan’ claimed that he did not go into the fight as he usually does.

“Of course, I’m not happy with the loss but knowing my potential in life and the way that I fought, I’m surprised that I was even able to fight with everything that was going on,” Alex Pereira further stated in the same interview. “Dealing with that is not cool but honestly, if I put together everything that was going on with me — and I’m not going to say it right now — it makes me even happy that I was able to fight [and] to do the fight that I did with everything that was going on with me.”
It’s understandable that Alex Pereira wants to focus on the fight at hand since he wants to avenge his loss and get back the belt. Regardless, Dana White could consider adding him to the White House card to add more star power to the event. Or maybe Pereira saves the day at the last moment, just like he did at UFC 303.
