Alex Pereira stated the reason for stepping into the light-heavyweight division

Jiri Prochazka snatched the light-heavyweight title from Glover Teixeira, signaling a turning point in Teixeira’s career and foreshadowing his retirement. Shortly after losing the title, Teixeira fought the young Jamahal Hill and suffered a defeat at the hands of Hill. This marked the end of the 43-year-old fighter.

Teixeira may have left the UFC but the UFC has not left him. The former light heavyweight champion was training a monster while he was planning his retirement. Alex Peraira not only considers Teixeira a mentor but also a very dear friend. Pereira in his short career in the UFC has already clinched the middleweight title and fought against formidable champions and won.

Pereira has now jumped into the light-heavyweight division and his first fight is against the man who wrote Teixeira’s retirement. In his most recent endeavor, Pereira was asked what was his motivation for jumping divisions and following Teixeira’s path. Pereira stated that he wants to step into the light heavyweight division with a positive mindset.
