The Swede is known for his power and excellent cardio. Despite fighting in the welterweight division, he spars and trains with light heavyweights and heavyweights. And his partner and UFC fighter, Alexander Gustafsson, testified to that.

In an interview, he said, “I wasn’t his main sparring partner in the beginning. But then he put some muscles on, he become a bit heavier, stronger. He’s been lifting his weights, he’s just been doing his thing. I really don’t know when it was, but then he started to spar with me and all the light heavyweight guys, all the heavyweight guys.”

According to ‘The Mauler,’ Chimaev is too good for welterweight. He said, “He’s just too strong, he too big for the-and he’s just too good, just technically too good for the welterweight guys. And this guy, he goes hard. This guy he wants it. He doesn’t want to lose one round in the training. So every time I spar with him, I have to be prepared. Even if this guy weighed maybe, I don’t know nowadays, 30 kilos less than me or 20 kilos less than me, I don’t know.”

Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns have agreed to a fight

One of the biggest fights in UFC’s welterweight division seems to be close. The number 2 ranked welterweight, Gilbert Burns, and Khamzat Chimaev have agreed to fight each other.

Burns is looking to get back in the title picture after having unsuccessfully challenged Usman at UFC 258. He last entered the octagon at UFC 264 and comfortably defeated Stephen ‘Wonderboy‘ Thompson.

A win against Chimaev will certainly be huge for him, as many look at the Swede as a future champion. Likewise, a win over the #2 ranked welterweight will catapult ‘Borz’ to the title scene.
