Alexander Volkanovski is geared up to become a double-division champion. The Australian has his game plan ready and is looking to live up to his fighter name ‘The Great’. Many would say he has achieved greatness in the UFC following his dominant run in the featherweight division, but Volkanovski isn’t stopping there. The UFC champion looks set to give Islam Makhachev a run for his money for the lightweight title.

Moreover, he has stated that he plans to say a few words to the lightweight champion, just like he said some words to Max Holloway at UFC 276. He recently also spoke about what he noticed in Makhachev‘s face leading up to the fight.

Alexander Volkanovski is prepared to ‘puzzle’ Islam Makhachev

Alexander Volkanovski revealed he is confident in the fight against Islam Makhachev. Moreover, he may even be prepared to say a few words to him, similar to what he told Max Holloway. In an interview with The Mac Life, ‘The Great’ said, “For sure, I’m gonna say it to him [I’m too strong for you] I’m gonna let him know”. The UFC featherweight champion then added, “I’m too quick for you” to Holloway, as he convincingly defeated ‘Blessed’.

Moreover, Volkanovski also revealed, “I’m gonna make him you know when he’s trying to grab a hold of me he’s lock hold I’ll let him know “naah”...”

The UFC champion continued, “If he does grab a hold of me or even if he does get me down just you know bounce back...”

Furthermore, he also said that he will be happy to be taken down as he is confident of bouncing right back up. He also said that Makhachev will panic in their fight just like his opponents in the past.

Continuing on the same topic about surprising the Russian, ‘The Great’ further added, “I love seeing people’s face freak out like that as well because I noticed that I’m very composed in there. I can see it and I can see it in their eyes. They’re puzzle in their face and all that type of stuff...”

The UFC featherweight champion spoke about what he observed in the face of Islam Makhachev. The p4p #1 said, “So again last week when we did that interview… but that smirk’s probably already stopping now because he’s cutting weight. So he probably won’t be the chirpy smirky type…”
