Alexander Volkanovski is a fighter that fights out of Australia, so being an Australian native it isn’t surprising to see him rock the most iconic song from the Australian rock band “Men at Work” for his UFC 294. “The Great” started using the song “Down Under” as his walkout song ever since he won the UFC featherweight title.

The Australian rock band released the song “Down Under” all the way back in 1980 and it was re-released as they signed with Columbia Records in 1981. The song was a hit during the 80s as by the new year of 1983, the song reached no.1 on the Billboard charts.

The song is jokingly considered by many as the national anthem of Australia, as many Australians can feel that the song accurately depicts the country. The music video of the song accurately depicts the upbeat rhythm of the song with an urgent underlying message of Australia losing its culture at the time.

Volkanovski using the song as his walkout accurately depicts how he holds the UFC with pride for himself and Australia. Yet, there was another song that the UFC champion used before he won the title.
