Alexander Volkov and His Top Finishes in the UFC

Alexander Volkov is one of the top names in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is also a decorated fighter in the heavyweight division of the UFC. As of 2021, he has been ranked at #5 in the UFC heavyweight rankings. The Russian MMA star has been professionally fighting since the year 2009 and has numerous records to his name.

The 6′ 7″ heavyweight fighter is a former champion of the M-1 Global promotion as well as Bellator MMA. Volkov definitely has the potential to move up the ladder in no time. The fighter has displayed terrific performances throughout his MMA career.

With a record of 33-8-0, the ‘Drago’ is considered to be one of the most dangerous athletes of the game. When inside the octagon, he is just unstoppable and is known to dominate his opponents throughout the bout. He has numerous wins to his name, out of which some have taken a recognizable place in the history of mixed martial art and the UFC.

‘Drago’ vs Stefan Struve

This is one of the best performances of Volkov and has to be on the list of his top finishes. This fight took place in the year 2017 at UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs. Struve. The Russian was just at the top of his game during this fight. His crisp strikes and his barrage of punches were something that Struve could not tackle.

When Alexander Volkov fought Fabricio Werdum

This amazing fight took place in the year 2018 at UFC Fight Night 127. Volkov was on a 3-fight winning streak when he faced Fabricio Werdum. The Russian MMA fighter showed a different level of elite performance in this bout, and his strong kicks and punches combined with his timing helped him defeat his opponent.

‘Drago’ won the nail-biting fight via knockout in the fourth round. He also received his first Performance of the Night bonus for his legendary performance.

Volkov vs Alistair Overeem

The most recent win of Volkov’s career was his fight with the veteran heavyweight superstar, Alistair Overeem. Volkov faced Alistair Overeem on February 6, 2021, at UFC Fight Night 184. This was one of the most dangerous fights of the Russian’s MMA career, but with his skills and techniques, he defeated one of the best names in the game.

Volkov won the amazing fight via technical knockout in the second round of the game. He also received the Performance of the Night award for his historic performance. This win of his had undoubtedly proven that Overeem is capable of getting to the top of his division.

After the fight, the fighter said, “I feel great. I feel really excited, and I’m feeling right and it’s my time i coming to the belt. Yeah sure, I work a lot with my… with my striking with everything and i also work a lot with the wrestling but I’m feeling good.

“I’m good and stand up I feel that i can finish him, uh maybe a second or so third round. I saw his face he’s uh, uh, he have a lot of cuts and bloods on face and I’m just, uh, I waiting for a good punch.”

Alexander Volkov is definitely one of the greatest MMA fighters out there in UFC. The young and vibrant Russian has a long way to go in his UFC career, and he is all set to make his legacy inside the octagon.
