The bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling predicted a first-round submission win over Petr Yan before their much-anticipated rematch.

‘Funk Master’ and ‘No Mercy’ previously clashed inside the cage at UFC 259. The latter dominated the majority of the fight. However, he landed a knee while Sterling was on the ground in the fourth round, which is an illegal move in UFC.

Hence, ‘No Mercy’ lost the fight via disqualification. And Sterling became the new UFC champion. However, many were against the results of the fight.

So the UFC set up a rematch between both the combatants for a clear result. But the rematch never came to fruition as ‘Funk Master’ pulled out of the fight due to injury.

Interestingly, they are now scheduled to clash against each other for the bantamweight gold. Even though Yan dominated the previous fight, ‘Funk Master’ is unfazed by it and has claimed to finish the former champion in the first round.

Recently, a Twitter user wrote, “I’m ready for this 3rd round sub of Petr Yan.” To which the bantamweight champion responded by writing, “Personally, I think I sub him in 1.”
