Anyone who follows Joe Rogan is familiar with his Sober October challenge. Rogan observes Sober October with his like-minded friends and it is almost a tradition now. The aim of the challenge is to abstain from alcohol for a month and detoxify their bodies. In short, they try to get as healthy as possible by eating clean.

In a recent episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience‘, Rogan and his friends discussed the progress of their Sober October challenge. During the conversation, they talked about the visible effects of this new alternative lifestyle and the challenges it posed.

Joe Rogan’s positive takeaways from Sober October

In a new JRE episode, Rogan sat down with his friends Ari Schaffir, Tom Segura, and Bert Kreischer. The group of stand-up comedians/podcasters discussed Sober October and how each of them was progressing through it.

Rogan said, “I don’t necessarily miss the booze. My face looks better. And all the deep bags under my eyes when I don’t drink. I know it’s doing something bad for me.”

Progressing along the same lines, Schaffir commented on how Bert Kreischer’s skin looked better. Kreischer said that one of the first things he noticed during Sober October was how his face got deflated and his skin looked better. Rogan agreed that Kreischer’s face did look better, and that it was because the inflammation decreasing.

Kreischer recollected an incident when he drank so much that his phone could not recognize his face.

The group had a good laugh about the incident. Rogan suggested that Kreischer should get an android phone or one with a fingerprint sensor for himself.

Joe Rogan and friends give tips to get quality sleep

During their conversation, Tom Segura admitted that the challenge he faced most trouble with, during Sober October, was sleep. Segura said that regular exercise and good eating habits can be built through practice. However, he said he could not yet master the ability to get quality sleep.

Rogan mentioned a sleep-enhancing mattress that was supposedly quite effective in helping one get quality sleep. Schaffir offered a different tip to Segura. He asked Segura not to look at his phone for an hour and a half before going to sleep. Rogan, however, said he didn’t have difficulty sleeping and that using his phone before bed didn’t really affect him.
