In a new conversation with media personality, Ariel Helwani, Diaz spoke about the possibility of fighting Conor McGregor once again. Diaz said, “They don’t wanna let me go. They don’t wanna let me out of this contract because they want me to fight Conor. … They don’t want me out without finishing that fight. I am not fighting Conor McGregor right now.”

“Out timelines aren’t matching up. You didn’t fight me when you were supposed to fight me. I’m not fighting you right now. Am I supposed to bring you back to life before I go? You bring yourself back to life, and then I’ll be back later. I got sh*t to do.”

Many people want to see a trilogy fight between McGregor and Diaz. Since both the fighters are coming off recent losses, a Diaz-McGregor bout would make sense.

However, it might take time for the Irish athlete to get back into the Octagon, whereas Diaz is ready to fight. Hence, a matchup seems difficult.

They fought once again in 2016 at UFC 202. This time ‘Mystic Mac’ won the bout through a unanimous decision. With one win and one loss for both the fighters, a third fight would have been interesting. However, as Helwani pointed out, a lot of time has passed to make the third fight happen.
