Charles Oliveira has been the underdog in most of his UFC appearances. However, this won’t be the case after his recent win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 269. The win marked his first-ever title defense and his tenth consecutive win in the promotion.
Oliveira finished Poirier off in the third round of the fight by doing what he’s best at, making his opponents tap. “Do Bronx” extended his UFC record for most submission wins and most finishes.
Both fighters showed tremendous respect for each other after the fight. Poirier made a class gesture after the fight and offered his support to donate $20000 to a charity of Olivera’s choice. “I would like to donate 20,000 dollars… You pick where the money goes,” said Poirier to the champion.
