Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s rivalry is one of the most heated in the history of combat sports. Many fans believe that things between any two fighters have never been rougher than they were between Nurmagomedov and McGregor. Their rivalry went way past the octagon ring. Long after their fight at UFC 229, we could still see the two fighters taking shots at each other through social media.

Recently, an old tweet of ‘The Eagle’ has resurfaced on social media and is grabbing the attention of many fans. The tweet does not have McGregor’s name in it, but fans are sure it was aimed at the Irishman.

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s tweet about Conor McGregor

The tweet, which Nurmagomedov posted in 2020, takes a shot at the former double-division champ’s legacy. In the tweet, the 29-0 record holder pointed out the fact that McGregor has tapped out in all divisions he has fought. Also, he went on to say that ‘The Notorious’ has never defended his title and has more tap-outs than some of the best UFC fighters combined.

Nurmagomedov even took a dig at McGregor by calling him the “greatest UFC fighter in Twitter history”. Fans reacted to the resurfaced tweet and here are some of the reactions –

One fan said – “Khabib bro, you’ve had 3-4 hard fights your whole career”

Another talked about Nurmagomedov’s legacy – “Khabib fought 6 guys that were actually good fighters 13-0 record in the UFC with half of the guys he beat no one even knows them. Then quit because his mommy told him no more.”

One fan said – “I’d rather watch Conor fight than Khabib any day”

Another fan said – “Khabib just trying to stay relevant  I already forgot ab him. Khabib couldn’t cut the weight to stay at 55 and retired to avoid a grappling welterweight division.”

One fan hinted at McGregor’s achievement and said – “One of two fighters to have knockouts in 3 divisions. He’s not the GOAT but he was once impressive.”

One fan had an interesting take on it – “Khabib only had a couple of competitive matchups, he retired because of the fear of losing, McGregor is double champ and not afraid to test himself against the best in their weight divisions.”

Another fan said – “I bet all my life savings Conor would beat him in rematch.”

Conor McGregor’s long-awaited return

For more than a year, fans were waiting for a piece of news regarding McGregor’s return. Their wait ended when Dana White announced that McGregor will be coaching fighters at TUF31 against Michael Chandler and the duo will be facing each later this year. The announcement has heightened fans’ excitement, as many believe this to be a thrilling and exciting matchup.

The MMA world has known McGregor and Chandler to be explosive strikers and aggressive fighters. It will be interesting to see both of them step into the ring and battle it out. Although White has not announced a date or a venue for the fight, fans are eagerly waiting for such an announcement.
