The Canadian soil might not have given the UFC too many fighters, but it gave us one fighter who was so dominant that he still tops the GOAT conversation for many. Georges St-Pierre (GSP) in his prime was deemed the GOAT of the welterweight division, but has since retired and shows no signs of fighting again, or does he?

Is Georges St-Pierre returning to the Octagon?

Georges St-Pierre constantly grapples with persistent rumors about a potential return to the Octagon- a topic that perhaps shadows him daily. Despite being a UFC legend, he remains firm in his decision to stay retired, at least for now. However, the uncertainty lingers, leaving room for speculation about a possible comeback.

In his most recent escapade, ‘GSP uploaded a video on his X handle. The video showed him inside the Octagon with the caption “I haven’t stepped foot in the UFC octagon in a very long time. And no, I am not coming back”. Despite his caption, fans are uncertain about his actions. They flooded the comments under the video and stated that he was coming back.

“Wait if we ask really nice, will you come back then?”

Last but not least, one deemed ‘GSP’ as the greatest to step inside the octagon.

“The greatest to step into the Octagon”

It might be just wishful thinking, as the fans certainly want their champ back in the octagon. Nevertheless, the likelihood of ‘GSP’ coming back to UFC is very thin.

Then what about the rumors that were going around that ‘GSP’ was supposed to return for an invitational event?

Was ‘GSP’ set to return at UFC 290?

At the UFC 290 media day, there was quite a buzz when Georges St-Pierre unexpectedly took the stage, revealing exciting news. He declared his return to competitive combat sports, specifically a Grappling match, marking his first venture since stepping away from the UFC in 2017 for the second time.

GSP at that time asserted “I’m 42 years old and it gives me—because I felt at the end when I retired, I was training, but I needed some—I like the kick of competition. I’d like to get it back, and I’d like to feel the adrenaline again. I think it’s also an avenue for fighters who still want to compete and make money and have fun with the fans and the family of the UFC.”
