Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva took to social media and has indicated that he’ll return to active MMA competition. ‘The Spider’ last fought back on October 31, 2020, against Uriah Hall on the first Halloween fight card. The bout would go against Silva, who was finished in the fourth round of his main event match-up.

The 45-year-old looked impressive early on in the fight and managed to secure some clutch positions in the striking realm. Fans saw some glimpses of prime Silva as he took on a fighter that was compared to him. However, there’s no denying his lack of agility and depleting durability cost him a win in his showcase UFC retirement fight.

Uriah Hall managed to blast through Silva’s defenses and he stopped the legend with a shot that would normally have whizzed by. Additionally, UFC President Dana White came out after the fight and revealed that he wasn’t too pleased with himself that he let Silva compete. White said that the aging legend who was pushing 46 shouldn’t be actively fighting in a cage anymore.

Anderson Silva leaves the door open for a comeback

Earlier in the week, news broke that Anderson Silva’s contract with the UFC had been duly terminated. Moreover, this didn’t come as a shock to anyone who had heard Dana White’s comments on the matter. Chiefly, Silva still had one fight left on his contract, but it was clear he’ll never step foot in the octagon again.

Anderson took to social media however and has confirmed that he still had an inclination to fight. It wasn’t surprising to anyone considering the fact that he had always left the door open.

Going into his final fight, ‘The Spider’ spoke out about what was likely to be his last UFC fight. The emphasis here is on the fact that he stressed the word UFC. From the get-go, it was clear that Silva intended to compete after his UFC run came to an end. Fans will wait to gain clarity on the developing situation and see where the Brazilian icon chooses to go.
