Heavyweight stalwart Andrei Arlovski will be making his return to the Octagon after only one fight in 2023. He will go head-to-head against Waldo Cortes-Acosta at UFC Vegas 84. Andrei Arlovski has been fighting under the UFC banner for more than two decades. The Belarusian-American fighter was also a former heavyweight champion, who fought the likes of Tim Sylvia, Fabricio Werdum, and Fedor Emelianeko, among many other iconic names. ‘The Pitbull’ has fought in over 45 matches in the 20 years he fought under the UFC banner. While he has won 25 of them according to the promotion’s stats, Andrei Arlovski has also lost 20 times as well. Some of his earliest losses came against Rico Rodriguez, Pedro Rizzo, and also Tim Sylvia. Furthermore, there are quite a few more names to whom he has lost following his return to Dana White‘s promotion in 2014.

The 2010s saw Andrei Arlovski failing to overcome former champion Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem in consecutive fights. Then the 44-year-old veteran also suffered defeats against Francis Ngannou, Marcin Tybura, and even Tai Tuivasa. Moreover, ‘The Pitbull’ has also registered losses against Jairzinho Rozenstruik and current interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. Now, let us take a look at Arlovski’s losses outside of UFC.

Arlovski’s losses in other promotions

During his time away from the UFC, Andrei Arlovski competed in other promotions like Strikeforce, which was later acquired by the UFC. There, he fought some of the most iconic names outside of Dana White’s promotion to ever compete inside the cage. One of those names was the aforementioned Fedor Emilanenko. Arlovski took on the Russian maestro following a knockout win over Roy Nelson but got absolutely destroyed by Emelianenko, who finished him in the first round.

The loss to Fedor Emelianenko led ‘The Pitbull’ to register a few more losses in Strikeforce. Those defeats came against Brett Rogers, Antonio Silva, and Sergei Kharitonov before he decided to part ways with the promotion. Till now Andrei Arlovski has amassed a record of 34 wins, 22 losses, and 2 no-contests.

At 44 years old, Andrei Arlovski could be finding it difficult to perform at the level he desires. His past few fights have resulted in defeats, and he will be hoping to break that chain to avoid a third consecutive loss against Waldo Cortes-Acosta.
