‘Poatan’ became a famous name in the world of MMA even before his UFC debut. It is because of his two wins, one decision, and one knockout, against the current UFC champion Izzy during their time in Glory Kickboxing. Ever since Pereira’s debut in the UFC, people are speculating about how a clash between the two would turn out.

While talking to the reporters at the UFC 276 Australian press conference, Adesanya gave his thoughts about fighting either Pereira or Sean Strickland next. He said, I look forward to either one of those fights.”

Further on, Izzy also addressed Pereira’s hype. He said, “I don’t like this narrative of like oh it’s too quick, it’s too quick for Pereira. But look, Jiri just fought for the belt and won the belt on his third fight in the UFC.”

“I think Anderson (Silva) did in the second fight. So that’s fine. He is new to MMA. I have been in the game for a long time. And this TikTok generation has 15-second memory so they forget,” he added.

“All they see is a knockout. But they don’t watch the first fight or even watched the second fight before the finish. So this is not kickboxing, this is mixed martial arts. And these ain’t big pillow gloves. These are four-ounce deadly weapons, and I can’t wait to drive that through his face,” Izzy concluded.

Will Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira fight?

After getting to know their kickboxing history, UFC fans are going berserk to see Adesanya and Pereira collide inside the MMA cage. Hence, this fight is bound to happen.

But, there are conditions. The Brazilian newcomer has two good wins under his name. However, he is yet to break inside the top 15 of the division. He is fighting the number four ranked fighter, Sean Strickland, on the same card as Izzy at UFC 276.
