The early finish saw the Suriname fighter protesting against the stoppage from referee Herb Dean. While Dana White has called out Dean for his work and being indecisive occasionally, this stoppage also had fans bashing the referee.

Coming into the bout, neither the Surinamese Rozenstruik nor the Strela Team representative Volkov had dropped consecutive contests inside the Octagon. The Russian fighter continued his streak and ended that of his counterpart; fans believe Herb Dean made it quick.

Due to the events on Saturday evening at the UFC Apex, Volkov saw his MMA record advance to 35-10-0; Rozenstruik’s record now reads 12-4-0 (6-4 UFC).
