Conor McGregor is set to face Dustin Poirier in a highly anticipated lightweight clash at UFC 257. It will be a rematch between the two top lightweight contenders. The duo crossed paths before at UFC 178, in 2014. McGregor knocked Poirier out within 2 minutes of the very first round.

However, much has changed since then. Both fighters have won multiple UFC championships between them. Poirier has been much more active than the ‘Notorious’ one. But the Irishman has achieved unprecedented success in the world of MMA.

Ahead of their rematch next month, fellow fighters made their pick on who is likely to come out as the winner in the rematch. Many believe Poirier has evolved much more since the first fight, and the outcome will be different this term. Also, some think McGregor is still the better fighter and will embarrass ‘The Diamond’ once again.

“I am liking Poirier, I really am, I think he’s just a different guy. I think it’s gonna be exciting, it’s gonna be an extremely competitive fight but I think Dustin has made those improvements.

“He looked unstoppable till he fought Khabib. He beat Justin Gaethje. I like Dustin Poirier in that fight,” said former light-heavyweight title challenger Anthony Smith.

ONE FC heavyweight Brandon Vera said, “I am rooting for Dustin. Other than that, I don’t know. I am not a fan of Conor McGregor.”

If it actually happens, I will probably go with McGregor,” said UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell.

Billy Quarantillo, Damon Jackson, Alexander Hernandez all picked the Irish powerhouse to emerge victorious. Whereas Dhiego Lima, Cody Durden, and Ashlee Evans Smith are backing Dustin Poirier to pull off an upset.

Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 2 can be for the lightweight title

UFC lightweight kingpin Khabib Nurmagomedov’s fighting future remains uncertain. ‘The Eagle’ has hinted that he will relinquish his belt. The Russian has also tipped McGregor and Poirier to fight for the throne.
