Joe Rogan never fails to grab the attention of his fans. Whether it be through his UFC commentary, stand-up comedy, TV show hosting, or through his Joe Rogan Experience, the 57-year-old never fails to entertain his fans. However, sometimes the entertainment comes unintentionally. But still good enough to make him the talk of the town.

Something similar happened recently on X. Parody accounts have truly become a new form of comedy on the internet. People create fake accounts of famous celebrities to post the most bizarre stuff. And one recent fake account managed to fool the UFC commentator. So who was the famous celebrity on whom the fake account was based? Well, it was none other than the real owner of the platform, Elon Musk.

The account by the name of @ElonMuskAOC recently retweeted a new piece on the founder of Infowars, Alex Jones. Jones has been ordered by the court to sell his media company to help pay the millions of dollars in damages he owes to the families of victims of the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting. His news outlet Infowars had falsely claimed that the shooting was a hoax, causing significant distress to the families. As a result, the jury found him liable for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Based on this judgment, the fake ‘Elon Musk’ claimed that he feels a bit mischievous and wants to pull off a funny stunt, possibly hinting at buying the news outlet. “I have the opportunity to do the funniest possible thing. Should I?” This surely caught the attention of the JRE podcaster, who replied to the post with a simple, “YES.”

Unbeknownst to Rogan, this was just a claim by a parody account, so there was no way that such an action would ever take place. This is something that fans were quick to point out as they shared their reactions to this major incident of Rogan confusing the real account of his former podcast guest.

Fans mock Rogan for falling for the trap

As soon as fans saw Rogan believing the parody account and even replying to it, they were in splits. Many took the opportunity to call out the UFC commentator for falling for a fake account. As many users wrote, “Joe are u stoned? Lol this is Elon’s parody account tea 🍵 hee 🤭”,  “Joe this is a parody account” and “uhhhhh, that is a parody account my G.”

Some users also pointed this error out to Rogan; however, they also requested that he actually ask Elon Musk to buy the company. Rogan has previously brought the Tesla founder on his podcast and must be in touch with him. They wrote, “Joe, hit up the real @elonmusk and convince him,” and “Parody account bro, but I agree if Elon could do that it would be amazing.” However, Rogan wasn’t the only one who fell for the fake account.

Many other users also took to the comments to tell the JRE host that he’s not alone. Other users too fell for it and believed Musk would be buying a new company now. They wrote, “Dojhhhhh I fell for it too”, “Lol I fell for it too.” and “noooo, I feel for it.”

Well, it seems like the 57-year-old might just be too gullible for the social media world. One that enjoys impersonation. But as ‘Dwight Schrute’ from The Office once said, “Identity theft is not a joke, Jim!” What are your thoughts on parody accounts? Let us know in the comments.
