UFC commentators Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier have become the go-to guys for commentary in the promotion. The pair along with Jon Anik have called fights on many of the most successful cards in the promotion’s history, also giving us some iconic moments in the process.

However, things can sometimes go wrong for the commentary team, especially with Rogan and Cormier who can be very opinionated about the fights. One such incident occurred when Rogan called out the judge for UFC 277, Seth Fuller for one of his scorecards.

In a prelim bout between Hamdy Abdelwahab and Don’Tale Mayes, Fuller gave the fight to Mayes. However, the other two judges scored it in favor of Hamdy Abdelwahab. This was the opinion shared by the commentators and many fans who agreed with the two judges.

Following this Rogan and Cormier were not shy to take shots at the dissenting judge.” I mean, come on, somebody gave Don’Tale the third round, Joe“. said Cormier. Rogan responded by implying that the judge might be cheating for his personal gains,”That guy needs a talking to. We need to check and see what he bet on.” said Rogan.

However, Fuller fired back at the commentators and came out with a video addressing his controversial scorecard.

UFC judge fires back at Joe Rogan

Fuller came out with a 28-minute video of him addressing this issue, although he claimed he was not supposed to. He stated that he was on the receiving end of a lot of hate from people and claimed that this was unwarranted.

Anybody who watched heard me disparaged, made fun of, and that’s fine. I have a thick skin, but it’s not right, because it’s just not factual,” said Fuller.

Moreover, the judge also claimed that he got to know about the whole controversy after he received an unknown text message. The message read,” Are you even watching the fights f***tard? No one in the world had Mayes except you. Sad when even the commentators are clowning your terrible ability to do your job.”

Fuller then went on to give the details behind his scorecard and explained the whole bout in the video. He stated that although many disagreed with his verdict, including the judges, he was still a competent one who knew what he was doing: “If you disagree, that’s fine. Two other judges obviously disagreed, and I have no problem with that. I just want to show you I’m not an idiot. I’m not bad at scoring. I don’t not know what I’m looking at. I do know what I’m looking at,” he said.

Fuller concluded by saying that he had no resentment towards the commentators. He claimed that the point of the video was to stand up for himself if the commissions were to remove him due to the public backlash.

Although the UFC commentary team is one of the most exciting in sports today, their casual approach to their jobs can often lead to mishaps. In cases like these where the commentators have experience in the sport, the line between having a professional approach and stating your opinion can often become blurry as this incident showed.
