In a tragic turn of events, Tracy Cortez was forced to send out a warning to the suspects of a solemn incident. And the victim affected was her little nephew. The whole ordeal is currently being reported as a hit-and-run case and has left Cortez’s nephew in critical condition.

Police are currently investigating the crime and the block where it happened on the 11th of April was closed off soon after the accident. Once the news was reported by Fox, Tracy Cortez took to her X handle to address the situation and send out a warning to the culprit.

Tracy Cortez is a rather popular and skilled UFC fighter and that alone should strike fear in the suspect’s mind. If that wasn’t enough, she put out an X post saying, “To the mtha fck*r that did a hit n’ run on my little nephew just know you ain’t getting away with this!!!”

The terrible incident occurred after her 13-year-old nephew was struck by a speeding truck on Thursday. He then had to be rushed to the hospital from the Glendale intersection near 47th Avenue and Northern. Her nephew is in critical condition as of right now.

“The group of juveniles began crossing this intersection northbound. The teen victim was leading the group in the front when he was struck by a vehicle traveling [sic] westbound on W. Northern Ave,” Police Officer Moroni Mendez said about the nephew and his friends.

Officer Mendez also notified the press that Tracy Cortez’s nephew was hit bad enough to be “fighting for his life (this) morning”. Thankfully, he is still alive but the condition still seems to be critical. In the meantime, the suspect remains at large.

Perhaps the biggest reason Tracy Cortez got into the sport of MMA was because of her brother. At the age of 14, Cortez saw her brother, Jose, defeated a UFC veteran and was drawn in. She was already interested in amateur wrestling following his footsteps and MMA should have been no different.

Unfortunately, that fight against UFC veteran Drew Fickett  would be Jose’s last as he would soon be diagnosed with germ cell cancer. Cortez became an MMA fighter to honor her brother. A tattoo of whom she carries proudly on her arm even today.

Now, more updates are awaited on the condition of her little nephew. The police has not given much information apart from the aforementioned bit. Hopefully, the suspect will be brought to justice soon and the boy will recover.
