Retired Russian mixed martial artist Artem Lobov made headlines very recently. The latest reports stated that former UFC fighter Lobov was suing his friend and teammate Conor McGregor. The fallout between McGregor and Lobov took the MMA fan base by surprise.

Lobov was a crucial element in the rivalry between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov. The infamous bus incident was a response to Nurmagomedov and his team assaulting the Russian fighter. After news of his suing McGregor broke, Lobov generated a lot of interest in himself.

What is Artem Lobov’s net worth?

According to several sources, the 36-year-old Lobov has a net worth of around $1.2- $2 million. The majority of his income came from his fighting career, while he had other endorsement and sponsorship deals on the side. Lobov has had spells in major MMA promotions like the UFC and Cage Warriors.

Following his exit from the UFC, ‘The Russian Hammer’ had a brief stint in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. During this time, he picked up a notable win over boxer Paulie Malignaggi and UFC veteran Jason Knight.

Why is Artem Lobov suing Conor McGregor?

Artem Lobov reportedly filed a lawsuit against Conor McGregor seeking fair compensation for his involvement in Proper 12. The multi-million dollar lawsuit claims Lobov is entitled to a percentage from the sale of the Irish Whiskey brand. Back in 2021, McGregor sold Proper 12 for a whopping $600 million. Lobov is laying claim to five percent of this figure.

According to Lobov, he was instrumental in the inception of the Proper 12 Irish whiskey brand. He also stated that he encouraged McGregor into the whiskey venture over a vodka business. In a recent interview, Lobov said that McGregor would have started a vodka brand with ‘Game of Thrones’ star Hafþór Björnsson if it wasn’t for Lobov. Lobov also said that he rejected a deal with McGregor and turned down the $1 million that ‘The Notorious’ offered him.

Artem Lobov’s biggest paydays

Back in 2019, Artem Lobov said that his Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship career was paying a lot more than his UFC one. Lobov last fought for the UFC in 2018. The promotion released him at the beginning of 2019. He joined BKFC the same year and was vocal about how the new promotion was financially more rewarding that the MMA big stage.

Lobov earned an estimated $200 K during his UFC career. He fought seven times for the promotion, including the TUF finale against Ryan Hall. He also won Fight of the Night honors for his bout against Cub Swanson. Lobov was 2-5 in the promotion when they released him.
