Alex Pereira defeated Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 in spectacular fashion and was in high spirits afterward. Fans could see him do a happy little celebration dance after the first-round knockout. Clearly, he came with a fighting spirit and didn’t want to settle for anything less than a knockout. Or at least, that’s what he said later on.
“. . .the least that I could do was just that to him.” Pereira said during the post-fight press conference. In the post-fight interview, he also said that his next move could be going to heavyweight in a fight in Brazil. However, there are some fighters that Dana White has warned him about in the biggest UFC division. Who are they?

Tom Aspinall vs. Alex Pereira? Dana White is not so sure

Dana White came into the post-event press conference to lay down a lot of facts and confront the world after the mega event which met the expectations of many for many reasons. Of course, he had to address Alex Pereira’s wishes to change divisions yet again.

Pereira is on a path to conquer everything he can. After winning middleweight once, he won the light heavyweight belt and is currently reigning as a champion with one title defense in his back pocket. Is heavyweight an ideal place for him?

“So when you think about him moving up to heavyweight you know,” White said, “you you got Jones, you got Aspinall and list goes on and on in that heavyweight division. Heavyweight division is nasty. I don’t I don’t know if that’s the right move for him.”

Of course, rumors regarding him and Tom Aspinall going at it have been floating around for a while. Aspinall is the interim champ of the division and is freshly coming off a knockout win over one of the scariest fighters in the division, Sergei Pavlovich. A serious threat for Pereira even with his knockout power.

Stipe Miocic is going to get his title shot very soon. Miocic is a heavyweight mainstay and has frightening knockout power himself. He’s managed to defeat the likes of Daniel Cormier, Francis Ngannou, and Alistair Overeem over the course of his career.

These are some of the most legendary scary fighters in the whole of MMA and not just the UFC. Alex Pereira will be truly tested against someone like Miocic. Of course, he has a little edge of his own in terms of his youth against a 41 year old veteran but he’s still a great fighter.

The GOAT himself

Let’s not forget, the heavyweight division has a king and it’s none other than the MMA icon, Jon Jones. Jones is considered the GOAT of MMA by many observers, experts, and professionals. Currently away due to an injury, Jones reacted to the knockout himself.

But if he were to fight ‘Poatan’ it would be a match of great power. While Alex Pereira is a highly skilled kick-boxer, Jones is well rounded in all spheres of the sport giving him the edge when it comes to wrestling or Jiu-Jitsu. Something we’ve not seen a lot of out of Pereira in the Octagon. Would he be able to take on the greatest? There’s no way to tell.  Who would you have your money on?
