Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira went to war for a career 4th time at UFC 287 in Miami. After losing twice in kickboxing and once in MMA, Adesanya finally got one back against Pereira. ‘Stylebender’ knocked out ‘Poatan’ in devastating fashion to reclaim the UFC middleweight throne and go 1-1 in the UFC against his biggest rival.

The 33-year-old managed to fight free from the weight of his three losses to Pereira and overcome the odds against him. And Adesanya’s exploits seem to have impressed Conor McGregor, who sent out a cryptic tweet after the event.

However, did McGregor have a hidden message behind his tweet? If you think about it, ‘The Notorious’ also has a potential quadrilogy waiting for him.

McGregor has his own quadrilogy

Conor McGregor has had many great rivalries in the UFC. However, the rival he’s fought the most number of times is the former interim lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier. The pair have fought a total of three times, but their rivalry is far from finished.

McGregor became the first fighter to knock Poirier out when they fought each other for the first time as featherweights at UFC 178 in 2014. Seven years later, Poirier returned the favor in their lightweight bout at UFC 257 in January 2021.

Their trilogy at UFC 264 was anti-climactic, as McGregor suffered a debilitating leg injury at the end of the very first round. Although Poirier got the TKO win, many consider the rivalry unfinished.

That being said, did McGregor hint at his own rivalry with his cryptic tweet? ‘Mystic Mac’ is a master of words and has piqued the interest of fans with a simple tweet.
