Who do you think is the greatest UFC heavyweight ever? Most will say it is Stipe Miocic. However, Daniel Cormier thinks it is former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. The latter was DC’s stablemate at the AKA gym, where he trained with another GOAT contender in Khabib Nurmagomedov and his other Dagestani compatriots.

The most significant among them is the current lightweight champion and the man being billed as ‘The Eagle’s successor, Islam MakhachevAlong with him are Khabib’s cousins- UFC bantamweight Umar Nurmagomedov, and Bellator lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov, the latter of whom has a replacement for Khabib to corner him. While it is not easy to replace one of the greatest in Khabib, Usman was able to do so with another GOAT.

Usman will be defending his Bellator lightweight title for the second time at Bellator 300 this month. And while he will not have Khabib to corner him for his second title defense, he has managed to rope in Cain Velasquez to corner him. Khabib has dissociated himself from MMA completely to focus on his family, and will no longer be in Islam Makhachev’s corner, either.

California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster has confirmed to the news outlet MMA Fighting that the Commission has a court document allowing Velasquez to corner Usman. “He is scheduled to corner. We are in possession of a court order permitting him to do so,” Foster said in a text to the outlet.
