Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the most successful figures in the world of mixed martial arts. After embarking on a career that cemented his status as one of the most dominant fighters of all time, he has managed to remain a force in MMA even after announcing his retirement.

He also recently brought his own fighting promotion (EFC) to the United States, which has gained a lot of popularity and attracted a lot of attention. Besides that, he also is a trainer and mentor for his Dagestani teammates, like Islam Makhachev and Zubaira Tukhugov.

Khabib’s former coach, Javier Mendez, appeared in an interview with The Schmo and spoke about Nurmagomedov’s recent ventures and how he juggles multiple responsibilities.

To that, Mendez replied,” You know it’s very difficult, to be honest with you. But he’s so good at everything he does that he’s going to be successful at anything he puts his mind to. He’s still a coach as much as he’s been and he’s going to be successful coaching with us. You know, He’s got some great coaches back home too, that help with the team, and then he comes in when he needs to… The coaching is always going to be a love that he’s going to do. But business is also something he’s fantastic at.”

“Look what he’s doing with the EFC, He’s doing a fantastic job there. He’s got the right people in charge, you know, and that’s what he does, you know. He’ll continue to do that as long as he stays hungry, Khabib will be successful in business and in coaching, and as a family man also. Like I always say, he’s great in every area that he that he’s involved in.”

Why did Khabib Nurmagomedov retire?

Nurmagomedov had one of the most dominant runs in the history of the UFC’s lightweight division. During his prime, he managed to beat the best of the best. ‘The Eagle’ has wins over the likes of Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and Rafael dos Anjos.

After his fight against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, ‘The Eagle’ announced his retirement from the UFC at the age of 32.

Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, was a trainer and a mentor to the fighter for his entire life. After his passing away, Khabib made a promise to his mother that he would not return to fighting as his father wouldn’t be by his side.

Despite several efforts from Dana White to have him back in the octagon, Nurmagomedov has kept true to his word.
