Recently, fans witnessed some big names like Diego Sanchez and Kevin Lee get released by the UFC. Similarly, several more names have been cut off by the promotion in March 2022.

There are many known as well as unknown issues that fighters may face in a promotion. For example, low play or no fights at all are some issues that MMA fighters have spoken about. The promotion, thus, releasing fighters because of several such issues is not a new thing.

Hence, let us have a look at the fighters who have been released in the month of March. As per a Twitter account that keeps track of the active UFC roster, the following fighters have been released.

Teemu Packalen

According to UFC Roster Watch on Twitter, Teemu Packalen is one of the fighters released this month. The Finnish fighter was only four fights old in the promotion. Unfortunately, he lost three of them. So it looks like he could have been released because of his fight losses.

Surprisingly, the fighter had been competing since 2012 and had not lost a single fight before his UFC debut.

Irwin Rivera

Like Packalen, Irwin Rivera too was new to the promotion. He joined the UFC in 2020 and had had only three fights. However, he lost two of them via decisions. Like former UFC fighters Lee and Sanchez, he has joined Eagle FC.

Interestingly, he was the bantamweight champion at Titan FC before signing up with the biggest MMA promotion.

Davi Ramos

The Brazilian had been fighting for the UFC since 2017. He had been a part of seven fights with the promotion and lost three of them through unanimous decisions.

He is coming off two back-to-back recent losses against Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan.

UFC releases Greg Hardy too

Greg Hardy’s release has been quite well known. The former NFL player started competing in MMA in 2018. In 2019, he joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship. While the heavyweight won a few fights, he suffered consecutive T/KO losses.

Post his fight against Serghei Spivac at UFC 272, the fighter was released.

UFC: Cameron VanCamp released before debut

While most fighters have at least had a few fights in the promotion before being released, it looks like Cameron VanCamp didn’t get the opportunity to do so. The lightweight fighter was supposed to face Nikolas Motta at UFC Vegas 37 at short notice. However, the bout got canceled because of an undisclosed injury. The promotion did not reveal which fighter was injured. Thus, VanCamp did not even debut in the promotion.
