‘Awesome Job Ladies!’ – Conor McGregor Congratulates Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka for Joining the Forbes Highest-Paid Athletes List

Conor McGregor is the most popular star to ever be a part of MMA. The UFC legend is a former two-division UFC champion and is one of the most followed athletes in the world. ‘Notorious’ has an incredible MMA record of (22-6) and is known all around the world for his fighting skills and outspoken personality.

As McGregor is such a huge star, he has been a part of many of the top-earning UFC PPVs. In fact, 8 out of the 10 highest earning fights in UFC history feature McGregor. Add to that the fact that McGregor is also part of various business ventures outside of MMA and one can imagine how much the UFC star must be earning.
Recently McGregor was even named No.1 on the Forbes list of highest-paid athletes in the world for the year 2021. Along with McGregor global stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James were also a part of the list. Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka also feature in the top 50 of the list.

Williams and Osaka are the only two female athletes to feature in the top 50. McGregor recently took to Twitter to congratulate the two athletes for their achievements. McGregor wrote, “Awesome job ladies!”

While it is a sad reality that out of the Top-50 highest-paid athletes in the world, only 2 are women. Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka do deserve praise for achieving this feat.
What next for Conor McGregor?
This year McGregor has fought in two of the biggest fights of the year. ‘Notorious’ first fought Dustin Poirier at the UFC 257 event in January and lost that fight via a 2nd round TKO. The pair met again for their much-anticipated trilogy fight at the UFC 264 event.

This fight also did not end well for McGregor as he snapped his leg towards the end of the first round and lost the fight via TKO (doctors stoppage). Following that fight, McGregor was medically suspended till 2022.

Since then, McGregor has been on rest and has shown great signs of recovery. When he returns, McGregor has expressed his desire to face Dustin Poirier in a 4th fight. However, that seems unlikely as Poirier is set to compete for the UFC lightweight title next.
