It is no longer bizarre to think of MMA fighters moving to the realm of boxing. Conor McGregor had his big-money fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Francis Ngannou has earned his name as a legitimate boxer since his move away from the Octagon. This allowed several other UFC fighters to dream of taking a break and trying their luck with the sport. However, UFC CEO Dana White has just given a major verdict that will shatter the hearts of many fighters within the UFC.

White has revealed that while many UFC fighters have been moving to a different sport, he is not a supporter of the move and would prohibit them from doing so. During the recent press conference of the Dana White Contender Series, when asked whether fans would get to see more UFC fighters taking a break and moving to boxing. Being as blunt as he can, White simply stated that he hopes his fighter doesn’t decide to do so and the two sports remain as separate as ever. He said, “God, I hope not. Yeah no. Completely separate.”

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is home to different styles of fighters, whether it be wrestlers or boxers. The UFC allows them the platform to test out their skills against various other art forms. Several top-level strikers in the UFC are amazing boxers. Max Holloway, Dustin Poirier, and Alex Pereira are just some of the few names who can knock someone out within seconds with a punch.

But it seems like that would remain a pipe dream since White wants his fighters to stay exclusive to his promotion. A decision that many fans would disagree with. Some may even call it biased since he did allow Conor McGregor to go for a big-money fight. Francis Ngannou too revealed that he did ask White to allow him a break to try his hands at boxing; however, the boss refused, and as a result, the heavyweight decided to change his sport.

But it might also be interesting to note that contradicting his own stance on the same, White has now decided to switch his sport, as the UFC boss teased yet again that he may try promoting boxing soon.

In the post-event press conference of the Dana White Contender Series, White revealed, “I did my first fight in Ireland and we’ll start announcing stuff here [at the] beginning of 2025.” However, the UFC boss yet unwilling to reveal more information. But he does insist that he has real intentions of getting into boxing this time. Unlike the previous times when he teased the move but never pulled the trigger on it.

As White said, “There’s a million reasons why now is [the time] If you notice, as far as boxing goes, even as much money as Sheik Turki is throwing into this thing, television deals aren’t really abundant right now. There’s just a lot of things that I think I can do that other people haven’t done yet.” Well, it surely looks like the UFC CEO is willing to make the wager on this move.

But what do you think? Will Dana White actually do it? Let us know in the comments.
