Recently, the Irish fighter called out welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. McGregor believes that this is the fight that needs to happen. After all, he has already been the lightweight champion. So now he wants to aim for the welterweight belt.

Rogan said, “You know, he’s talking about fighting Kamaru Usman like, phew, be careful what you ask for. … Usman is a big man, and he is top of the food chain right now. That’s the best pound-for-pound fighter alive is Kamaru Usman, and he’s a natural 170.”

Rogan further discussed how McGregor won the featherweight belt and went on to capture the lightweight belt as well. He even competed at the welterweight. However, according to the UFC commentator, Usman is on a whole different level. Rogan said, “Usman’s a different thing. That’s a different peak. There’s no oxygen at the top of that mountain. That’s as good as it gets ever at 170.”

Thus, while he has tasted loss in the lightweight division, facing new opponents in the heavier division could be an exciting change. Further, the fighter wouldn’t have to cut as much weight. However, with McGregor aiming straight at the welterweight throne, fans are sure to be surprised.
