Despite ‘Bullet’ being 2-0 down, she has said that she will make no special changes if she secures a blockbuster trilogy fight against Amanda Nunes. In a chat with Joe Rogan on his podcast, she said, “I’m not gonna do anything special to lift up my weight. Because I don’t believe it’s gonna help. I believe it’s gonna be worse for the fighter.”

“Because if in your whole life you was like a certain body type, you know how to carry like certain amounts of muscles. And then suddenly, for the last two-three months, you start to carry way more. So what’s gonna happen? You’re gonna be slower.”

“You’re not gonna have the same resistance for the whole fight. Because you carry more weight on top of you. So I will do the same. I just want to do the last-day weight cut like what I do for 125. I am not gonna lose these six pounds what is like and I will just eat normally as I do and train the same way as I do.”

“That must be what it’s like when people play one-on-one with Michael Jordan. Or like I don’t know, maybe that’s how guys felt when they were fighting Khabib or something. Because it really was, holy sh*t, this girl is really on another level, you know.”

Valentina Shevchenko vs Amanda Nunes: Battle of the Bantamweights

‘Bullet’ was on an amazing four-fight undefeated streak when she made her UFC debut with a stunning win in 2015. For her second UFC bout, Shevchenko faced Amanda Nunes, who was already a household name in the promotion. At UFC 196, ‘The Lioness’ emerged victorious via a unanimous decision after a gruesome five-round battle inside the octagon.

This was Shevchenko’s first setback in her UFC career. She quickly bounced back into the win column and got a shot against Nunes at UFC 215. As the bantamweight gold was on the line, it garnered a lot of attention from the fans.

Unfortunately, even after a sheer virtuoso performance from ‘Bullet’, the scores fell in the favor of Nunes. It was a close fight and many fight fans believed it to be a controversial split decision. This was Shevchenko’s second loss in the UFC.

Subsequently, ‘Bullet’ made a move to the flyweight division and has been unstoppable ever since then with 8 wins in 8 matches.
