When a fighter proves his mettle inside the Octagon, chances are he or she’s going to find themselves becoming a pop culture icon. Some fighters even land a role in movies, and light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira seems to be one of the most recent ones, and guess what? UFC color commentator Joe Rogan seems to love that ‘Poatan’ found his way into the film industry.

Just a few months ago, Conor McGregor lit up the UFC fandom when he made his movie debut in the remake of the 1989 cult classic, ‘Road House’. He received a great deal of praise for his portrayal of the villain, ‘Knox’. Now, Alex Pereira is reportedly going to appear as a villain in a movie, which has earned a lot of praise from Joe Rogan, who believes that he can follow in the footsteps of a certain WWE legend.

Joe Rogan claims Alex Pereira could become ‘The Rock’

While watching Sharaputdin Magomedov’s fight against Armen Petrosyan, Joe Rogan, on his ‘JRE Fight Companion’ show, mentioned ‘Bullet’ landing a role in a movie. For the unversed, the Dagestan native was reportedly offered to dawn the role of an assassin, which he accepted, and he was now waiting to receive his US visa for the job.

Similarly, Joe Rogan also mentioned that even Alex Pereira, who’s been one of the biggest UFC stars in recent times, landed a similar role to Sharaputdin Magomedov in a movie. “They’re gonna cast ‘Poatan’ in some movie too, I heard. He’s a bad guy in some movie,” the 55-year-old told guests Brendan Schaub, Eddie Bravo, and Brendan Callen.

As expected, being a UFC advocate, Joe Rogan was excited for what was to come for Alex Pereira, believing that he could become as big as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, given that Conor McGregor has already made somewhat of a mark of his own. “I’m hyped for these guys. Imagine if one of these guys becomes the next ‘Rock’. Like you’re telling me, Conor McGregor couldn’t become an action movie star [chuckles],” Rogan added. But what is Alex Pereira’s movie all about? Let’s have a look.

Details on Pereira’s villain role

So, the news is that Alex Pereira is having discussions about a role in a movie produced by A24 Films.  ‘The Hollywood’ reporter claims that he will be taking up the negative role (the villain) in a movie named ‘Onslaught’. The director of the movie will be Adam Wingard, who directed movies like the ‘Godzilla’ franchise. Also, the female lead, who’ll act alongside Pereira, will be Adria Arjona, who has worked in movies like ‘Morbius’, starring Jared Leto.

Several UFC fighters have been in movies, and if there’s one fighter who’s known for playing a vital role in a movie, it’s Randy Couture, who appeared on the ‘Expendables’ franchise. Another example would be Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson who appeared in ‘The A-Team.’ Now, the question is if Alex Pereira can make the same or even more noise with his acting debut and if venturing into the film industry could deviate him from his three-division conquering dreams.
