Belal Muhammad‘s explosive appearance on Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo’s Pound 4 Pound podcast is at the top of the MMA lost media list at the moment. Apparently, the always out-spoken Muhammad, who is the current welterweight champion, had a heated debate with Usman, the former welterweight champ, which apparently led ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ to get emotional.
Supposedly, that is why Usman and Cejudo have not released that episode to the public. And as ‘Bully B’ sets up for his first title defense at UFC 315 this weekend against the Aussie powerhouse, Jack Della Maddalena, he is still facing questions about what exactly happened between him and the former champ on that fateful day. “You had a little scuffle with Kamaru Usman. Would you care to shed some light on what happened with Kamaru Usman in that room?” Din Thomas asked on the UFC 315 weigh-in show.
“He’s gonna lie to you, T. All he does is lie when he starts talking about this story,” his co-host Daniel Cormier interjected, which Muhammad dismissed as the former champ running interference for his friend, Usman, before going into details about the incident.

“No, there’s no lies. It’s DC’s boy. So, DC hates when I talk about his boy crying and tearing up. Honestly, I’ve started to feel bad for the guy. Like, literally, when people bring it up, I don’t like to talk about. I don’t like to talk about another man crying,” Muhammad said.
“What’s the one line, Belal? Say the one line he told you,” Cormier, ever the instigator, egged on the 170-pound champ, who took the bait.
“He was like, ‘I’m the champ too.’ I’m like ‘bro you’re not the champ now, you’re on a three-fight losing streak.’ Then he’s was like ‘anything you do, I do better.’ Bro, you don’t take the head kick better than me. That was it. I didn’t have to do anything else after that. It was all systems go,” ‘Bully B’ said with a grin on his face.

Indeed, Usman’s title reign was ended by a fantastic and lethal head-kick from Leon Edwards, who was losing the fight going into the fifth round at UFC 278. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ immediately rematched the Englishman, but ultimately lost a hard-fought decision to ‘Rocky’ there. Some fans even think that the Nigerian former champ just doesn’t have it in him to make a comeback and become champion. So it isn’t surprising that Usman got emotional at being made fun of about his recent form. But then again, maybe Usman will have the last laugh as he sets up for his return to the Octagon after over a year of inactivity.

Did Belal Muhammad's words light a fire in Usman, or is 'The Nigerian Nightmare' fading away?

Kamaru Usman set for do-or-die clash with Joaquin Buckley
Kamaru Usman is set to face surging welterweight contender Joaquin Buckley on June 14 in a fight that is very important for the former champion. The Nigerian has opened as the betting underdog, which gives you some idea about how most see this fight going. Buckley, the young and hungry lion, looks to be in the best form of his life, coming off stoppage victories over veterans Colby Covington and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson.

On the other hand, Usman is 37 and coming off three consecutive losses. So if he loses this fight, he would be dangerously close to being in washed-up territory, where his rivals Leon Edwards and Colby Covington might be. On the other hand, if Usman wins, he could make a case for a title shot next, or at least for a contender clash against, say, Sean Brady.
Mike Tyson’s coach, Cus D’Amato used to say that fighting was “75% mental and only 25% physical.” This is why some fear that by confronting Usman on his podcast, and humiliating him there, Belal Muhammad may have lit a fire in ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ to not only prove his critics wrong, but to win the title and win it off of Belal Muhammad. After all, that is the only way the Nigerian can avenge his alleged humiliation at the hands of the reigning champion. What do you think about Belal Muhammad’s revelations about his podcast episode with Kamaru Usman?
