It seems like the saying that Belal Muhammad cannot catch a break seems to be a legitimate one after what went down ahead of his UFC 315 title defense. Apparently, the welterweight champion experienced another situation where it seems like he wasn’t recognized. And guess what? Word traveled fast and fans were left amused on social media.
It was after UFC 310 when Belal Muhammad was left embarrassed, trying to get into the Octagon to face off against Shavkat Rakhmonov for a potential title fight. The security couldn’t recognize him and stopped him at the cage door, prompting Joe Rogan to say, “Security doesn’t know he’s the champ. Let him in,” out loud, which—despite Rogan berating the security personnel—was pretty embarrassing for a UFC champion.
After that incident took place, even fighters like Conor McGregor would make fun of Belal Muhammad for not being recognized. Well, it seems like ‘The Notorious’ could react again on social media as ‘Remember the Name’ faced a similar issue when he was about to step onto the scale during the UFC 315 weigh-ins, as Montreal’s Commissioner failed to recognize the defending champ.

What was more surprising was that Jon Anik, UFC’s play-by-play commentator, was announcing the names of every fighter that stepped to the scale. That also included Belal Muhammad, but the commissioner who didn’t appear to pay attention to him, approached the champion to let him know who he was as he held a list of fighter names in his hand.

Is Belal Muhammad a boring champion? Fans give their takes
One of the biggest jibes that fans took on Belal Muhammad was with regard to his nickname. They find it ironic that his nickname suggests that the first Palestinian UFC champion wants to be known worldwide for his exploits inside the Octagon. However, the recent incidents suggest that he hasn’t been successful in that endeavor. One fan wrote, “Forget the name,” while another added, “Can’t remember the face either.”

Similarly, another fan addressed the lack of star power when it comes to Belal Muhammad, surprised that Dana White went ahead and put him in the main event. “‘The main event’ LMDAOO.” Seeing how the instances of being unrecognized have become quite frequent, one fan believed that “bro is used to it by now.” Meanwhile, the conversation took a funnier turn when an Instagram user likened Muhammad to famous rapper French Montana. “He didn’t known French Montana was fighting,” that fan commented, claiming that this might be the reason why the commissioner got confused.

But what is the reason behind people not recognizing or acknowledging the UFC welterweight champion? Well, some fans believe that Belal Muhammad doesn’t really carry an aura of a champion. “Most boring champion ever,” that fan claimed without mincing his words regarding how he feels about the welterweight champion. But there were still some favorable reactions for Belal, as one fan claimed, “Feel really bad for him he’s such a great dude and get so much hate cause of his fighting style,” in his support.
Well, Belal Muhammad loves to fuel himself to be better and make a statement when he faces such awkward situations. Maybe he does what he’s been doing in his 10-fight unbeaten run and adds another win to his record against Jack Della Maddalena. Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
