Belal Muhammad feels he is ready to take on Leon Edwards

35-year-old Belal Muhammad is a fan favorite and is the number one contender for a title shot. His recent performances inside the Octagon have made him a force to reckon with in the welterweight division. While speaking to MMA Junkie, he shared his thought process regarding his potential fight with Leon Edwards at UFC 300.

After being asked about his fight at UFC 300, Muhammad said: “I’m just hoping that Dana is just waiting to do one of those uh epic announcements. But for me, it’s like I think that’s the time that’s gonna happen. I feel like I’m ready for it. He said he wants to fight on 300, which makes sense. But, uh, you know, nothing’s finalized until I get a contract. So once I get that, then I’ll be satisfied. But for now, it’s just knowing that that was the last thing Dana told me. I’m next, and uh, Dana’s not a man to go against his words. So we’re just waiting for everything to be finalized that’s in store, and I’m ready to go.”

In a recent YouTube video, Leon Edwards’ coach, Dave Lovell, also hinted at the possible fight for the champion at UFC 300. With UFC CEO Dana White announcing some fights for UFC 300, will we see Belal Muhammad take on Leon Edwards next?

UFC 296 ended with Leon Edwards walking out of the Octagon as the champion. ‘Rocky’ faced Colby Covington for his title defense and dominated the fight entirely. Many believed that Covington would be a formidable opponent for Edwards and might beat him. However, the fight turned out to be a one-sided affair after the challenger managed to win just one round in the entire battle.
