Conor McGregor is one of the biggest names in the MMA. His ability to sell fights is great for the UFC. Hence, if rumors are to be believed, even though ‘The Notorious’ hasn’t had a great time at 155, he might still receive a title shot against fellow contender Charles Oliveira. Former UFC welterweight fighter Ben Askren expressed his displeasure over the same.

During an interview, ‘Funky’ stated that allowing Conor McGregor to fight Oliveira over Islam Makhachev and Beneil Dariush isn’t a good idea.
The former 170-pound fighter said, “The thing that I would hate, which I think has a decent possibility of happening, is them putting Conor McGregor against Charles Oliveira. I think that is such a dogs**t idea. McGregor lost his last fight.”
He added, “I would be really perturbed. Obviously, I realize show business and selling tickets has a lot to do with who’s getting the shots and I have no issues with that…Makhachev or Dariush…they won a lot in a row. You got to give them a shot at some point…And so the fact that I would be really annoyed if they skipped those two and went straight to McGregor.”

Even though Charles Oliveira isn’t the lightweight champion anymore, he is still one of the next contenders. ‘Do Bronx‘, in his post-fight speech at UFC 274, made his intentions of fighting McGregor clear.
Charles Oliveira called out Conor McGregor after UFC 274
UFC 274 brought both happiness and sadness for Charles Oliveira. While ‘Do Bronx’ got stripped off his belt before the fight for missing weight, he won his bout by submitting Justin Gaethje. This win solidified his position as one of the contenders for the belt left vacant.
During the octagon interview, when Joe Rogan asked Oliveira whom he would like to fight next, the Brazilian replied, “Hey Conor McGregor, you coming up or you going to run away?”

The outspoken Irish superstar was quick to notice this call out and wasted no time in replying to Charles Oliveira. While the former two-division champion seemed unwilling to cut weight, he also showed in fighting ‘Do Bronx’.
McGregor said, “I’m not sure I wish to cut the weight. I am really enjoying being built like a refrigerator. I feel I want to fight at this size just to watch it back lol. But I’d love to fight the Brazilian, 100%! I love Brazil and I’m unbeaten against Brazil. All KO’s. I’ve some thinking to do”

A fight between Conor McGregor and Charles Oliveira would be exciting to see. It would also be interesting to see how ‘The Notorious’ deals with the former champion’s proficient grappling.
