Ben Askren has his work cut out for him in the form of a boxing fight against Jake Paul. However, that doesn’t stop the former UFC welterweight from calling notable names. After announcing that he will fight Floyd Mayweather once he is done with Jake Paul, Askren has now targeted actor Mario Lopez for a wrestling bout.

Funky‘ took to Instagram and announced to his fans that he wishes to fight Mario Lopez after he pins Floyd Mayweather. As of now, the only fight of Askren which is official is his boxing debut against YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul. The fight takes place in April, later this year.

Despite his renowned wrestling pedigree, Askren has never impressed fans with his striking. Hence, fans aren’t very sure if Askren can defeat Jake Paul or not. However, that isn’t stopping the former Bellator and ONE Championship welterweight kingpin from calling out multiple opponents.

What’s noteworthy is that Lopez responded to Askren’s challenge.

2021 is full of surprises… Let’s go my man!” Lopez wrote on Twitter.

Will a 47-year-old Mario Lopez ever face Ben Askren?

A renowned actor and a host, Lopez is well known for his role of A.C. Slater in Saved by the Bell. Despite nearing his fifties, the former X-Factor host kept himself in pristine physical shape. A lesser-known fact about him is that he has achieved limited success while wrestling in high school.

Even though the discussions of a fight between him and Askren are limited to social media, it could garner a significant audience in the future, making it apt for charity. However, this could just be a case of Askren being his usual self and trolling people online.

The former Olympian, however, has to first get past his next opponent in Jake Paul. The latter is 2-0 in his professional boxing career, with both his wins coming via stoppages in 2020. Irrespective of how the fight pans out, Askren has been doing his best to market the event so that it ends up generating as much revenue as possible.

If Askren comes out on top, one can expect him to continue his post-retirement career with fights of a similar nature.
