Ben Askren has recently been in the news after the former UFC fighter showed interest in fighting Jorge Masvidal. The 39-year-old even considered coming out of retirement if given the opportunity to fight Masvidal at UFC 300. The talks of a rematch have drawn some interesting reactions from the fans.
Masvidal announced his retirement from the sport last year after losing four consecutive fights. However, Monday’s latest tweet, “Not Retired,” hinted a comeback for ‘Gamebred.’ Let us look at what the fans say about Askren and his desire to fight Masvidal.

Fans willing to “give a knee” to watch the fight
Masvidal announced his retirement from the sport in 2023, and he last fought Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. The 39-year-old lost the fight via decision and decided to hang up his gloves. He not only lost the fight against ‘Durinho’ but could not win his battles against Kamaru Usman twice for the welterweight title, and also lost his grudge match against Colby Covington. However, the former title challenger might be set to return and has reportedly resumed his training.
One of Masvidal’s biggest rivals, Ben Askren, recently took to Instagram and hinted at a comeback if given a fight against Jorge Masvidal. The pair had fought back in 2019 at UFC 239 after a heated build-up. Their fight still holds the record for the fastest UFC knockout after ‘Gamebred’ flattened Askren with a flying knee just five seconds into the fight. The pair have been at loggerheads since then.
With all the rematch chatter going around, the fans also shared their opinions regarding the fight. Let us take a look at some comments below:

Masvidal, on the other hand, went on to win the BMF title in November of that year, headlining Madison Square Garden. Later, he featured in four more fights, including two title fights, but failed to win any of them. Feeling he may have lost a footing, the Cuban star announced his retirement in his hometown of Miami at UFC 287. With Masvidal seemingly announcing his return, will we see a rematch between the two?
