Beneil Dariush Provides Major Update on Charles Oliveira Fight as He Reveals Dana White Has Agreed to Islam Makhachev Title Shot Demands

Disappointment struck the UFC fans as the much-awaited co-main event between Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush got scrapped due to an unfortunate injury suffered by the Brazilian fighter. The fight, scheduled for May 6 at UFC 288, had fans eagerly anticipating an explosive showdown between the two top lightweight contenders.
However, fate seems to have other plans for this fight, as it has been booked multiple times in the past, only to be canceled due to various reasons. The wait has been long and arduous for the fans who were looking forward to this clash of titans.
But, just when the fans had given up hope, there was an interesting update from the Iranian fighter, Dariush. He revealed that negotiations were in place for a rescheduled fight with ‘Do Bronx’. This update has sparked new hope among the fans who have been eagerly waiting to see these two fighters in action.

New date for Charles Oliveira vs. Beneil Dariush
Beneil Dariush expressed his frustration during a recent interview with The Schmo regarding the cancellation of his fight with Charles Oliveira. The disappointment was palpable for Dariush, who had been preparing for the fight for months. However, there is finally some good news for fight fans as the 33-year-old fighter revealed that the UFC has a new date for the much-awaited lightweight clash.
“They said they want to push the fight to June 10th,” said the 33-year-old fighter.

“By the way, I still don’t have a contract so I’m not sure if that’s- it’s for sure, but that’s what they told me they want to do. June 10th. And at first I wasn’t about it because what if this guy pulls out?”
The Iranian fighter also mentioned, “But then I said a couple of things- Listen, ‘If this guy pulls out again, I want the title shot…’ And basically a pay bump too. And they agreed to both things, and that was pretty much it.”
Dana White may have agreed to his demands eventually. Although Dariush asked for a title shot right away after Oliveira pulled out of the fight, the UFC denied him that opportunity, leaving him in fumes.

In the same interview, the host asked the 33-year-old why he hasn’t been put up for a title fight against Islam Makhachev yet. The Iranian fighter revealed that he put forth the same request to the UFC, but they offered an explanation that didn’t sit well with him. “Basically, the way they put it is like, ‘I’m not gonna move a contender’. [That] is the way they put it,” said Dariush.
“They said there’s people ahead of me. And they specifically pointed out to Dustin Poirier. And at that point, I was about to flip a table.”
