Beneil Dariush Pulls an Islam Makhachev on Charles Oliveira as He Announces “I Train With a Lot of Jiu-Jitsu Guys Who Are Better Than Him”

Beneil Dariush does not seem to be getting away from the headlines. After facing a major disappointment as his fight against Charles Oliveira on UFC 288 after it was postponed, the UFC fighter has decided not to find a replacement for the UFC lightweight and rather wait for Oliveira to recover for a future bout. Dariush has been appearing in a lot of interviews while sharing his take.

The 33-year-old spoke about what he was doing to nullify Charles Oliveira’s grappling in their future fight. Dariush pulls out an Islam Makhachev type of threat as he speaks about the dangers that the former UFC lightweight champion possesses.

The UFC lightweight appeared in an interview on the YouTube channel, An0maly – News Analysis & Hip-hop. He answered a few questions related to his postponed fight against Charles Oliveira. Beneil Dariush was asked if would have been comfortable going to the ground against Oliveira.
Dariush said, “I train with a lot of jiu-jitsu guys who are better than him”. Furthermore, the UFC lightweight added that he is not trying to belittle Oliveria. The UFC lightweight followed, ” I mean it’s not like I’m trying to insult him or anything but these guys are world-class jiu-jitsu guys and I train with them and it’s awful man.”

The American fighter also stated that it is a humbling experience for him to train in jiu-jitsu. He continued, “They’re so good. It’s really humbling to be honest with you today. You know going into MMA practice against world-class guys and winning all your rounds and then you go into a jiu-jitsu practice and you do jiu-jitsu with the really good jiu-jitsu guys and you lose all your rounds. It’s very humbling.”

UFC didn’t like Beneil Dariush facing Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 288
The UFC matchmakers didn’t like the idea of replacing Oliveira with Tsarukyan at UFC 288. Although the idea was gladly accepted by Dariush, the UFC decided to postpone the event for the future.
