The trilogy fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier is only a week away. But the social media war has already begun. In the rematch at UFC 257 in January, Poirier was the one who landed a successful takedown on McGregor in the very first round. This broke the momentum for McGregor as he was forced to work his way up to his feet.

In a recent post, McGregor tried to suggest an unofficial agreement to the fight by tweeting “The first one to shoot is a dusty bi**h.” By the tweet, it’s clear that ‘The Notorious’ wants to make the trilogy fight a stand-up contest.

Dustin Poirier replied to this tweet in an interview with Brett Okamoto. ‘The Diamond’ said “He just said something on the first one to shoot is a dusty b***h. Isn’t he the one who’s always preaching about the flow, the full martial arts, no holds barred, no rules, the ultimate fighting like when he’s talking about boxing and stuff right?

“How about the first one to get taken down is a dusty b***h in mixed martial arts put it all together. It reeks of insecurity to me.”

Dustin Poirier claims to be the best boxer in the lightweight division. But after rejecting the Irishman’s suggestion, McGregor trolled ‘The Diamond’ as he retweeted “Best boxer, my a**, Shooting a**! shelling a** bi**h.”

Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier: an unofficial no 1 contender fight

It’s a very important fight for both the Lightweights as a win here will open doors for endless opportunities. My fans speculate that the trilogy fight between McGregor and Poirier is an unofficial number one contender fight for the 155 lbs championship. As of now, the Brazilian Charles Oliveira is the current UFC lightweight champion.

Oliveira would love to have his first title defense against the winner of the trilogy fight at UFC 264. Both are huge names and will provide a healthy paycheck for the champion. The lightweight champion feels he is the superior fighter and can knockout out both if they ever square off inside the octagon.

At the press conference promoted by the website Bet Combat, Oliveira told “Everyone knows that a fight with Conor has a lot of money. And one with Dustin not so much, but they are two great opponents. I don’t choose my fights, I will be ready. I really believe in my jiu-jitsu against either of them. But something tells me that if I fought them, I would knock them both out (h/t: Agfight).”
