UFC Featherweight prospect Chase Hooper has caught the eye of many fight fans in the past few months. The American has shown off some impressive skills in the octagon and the youngster has a lot coming ahead if he keeps his performance up.

Hooper recently won the Performance of the Night bonus at UFC Vegas 55 after he beat Felipe Colares via TKO. After his recent win, fans in America are dubbing Hooper the ‘American Khabib.’ Fight fans can’t get enough of Hooper’s comparison with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Hooper reacted to the viral trend via Twitter. He wrote, “I knew that that one season of wrestling in 7th grade (that I absolutely hated) would pay off lmao .”

One of the fight fans took a dig at the ‘American Khabib’ in the comments section and called him a ‘Can crusher.‘ He said this in reference to Hooper for fighting in the lower ranks of the division and not beating a bigger name in the division yet.

 

Another fighter wrote,” Everyday new Khabib being presented.” He said this in comparison to Nick Maximov. Many fighters are compared to Nurmagomedov nowadays if they show dominant wrestling in the cage. The Russian is also a role model for many young fighters.

Another user slammed the above tweet for comparing Maximov to Nurmagomedov. He said, “Had a Khabib ): after getting subbed you can’t be a Khabib. Unfortunately, I love Maximov tho he’s got a huge future ahead of him.”

Another user wrote,” 2 losses ain’t no Khabib.”

A fight fan sided with Chase Hooper in the comments section and wrote, “Haha Chase has better wins at age 22 then Khabib did at 30.”

The featherweight prospect made his UFC debut at 20 and has been turning eyes ever since. Now, at the age of 22, ‘The Dream,’ is certainly far from his prime years.

Before the UFC, Hooper has won the Dominate FC Featherweight Championship once. After his big win yesterday, Hooper’s record at the UFC is 3 wins to 2 losses.
