

It has been just a while since UFC star Conor McGregor showed interest in buying ‘Chelsea Football Club’ off the Russian Roman Abramovich. He had tweeted his interest in buying it. However, issues that have recently cropped up could deter him from doing so.

Marty Ziegler tweeted that Abramovich had been sanctioned and that all UK assets were frozen. While the club can continue with its soccer activities under a special license, it cannot be sold.
Zeigler further informed that merchandise sales will also be stopped. In addition to all of this, player transfer or new contracts will also not be permitted.

This news further elicited a lot of mixed reactions from Twitter users. With this new development, Conor McGregor might have to wait for a while before he can purchase the club.

The UFC fighter has multiple successful businesses. So his wanting to expand further in the sports arena is not surprising. He has also previously toyed with the idea of buying Manchester United from the Glazers. So it looks like the fighter really does want to purchase a football club soon.
