Marty Ziegler tweeted that Abramovich had been sanctioned and that all UK assets were frozen. While the club can continue with its soccer activities under a special license, it cannot be sold.

Zeigler further informed that merchandise sales will also be stopped. In addition to all of this, player transfer or new contracts will also not be permitted.

This news further elicited a lot of mixed reactions from Twitter users. With this new development, Conor McGregor might have to wait for a while before he can purchase the club.
