Conor McGregor: His coach’s favorite fighter

‘The Notorious’ caused a stir with his tweets. The former two-division champion has possibly taken a jibe at former lightweight and rival Khabib Nurmagomedov. It is always up for debate as to who is the best lightweight in the division. Some fans think it’s Nurmagomedov and some think it’s BJ Penn. According to McGregor, his coach adjudged it to be the latter.

According to a recent tweet wherein, McGregor wished BJ Penn on his birthday, he stated that he was his coach’s favorite fighter. He tweeted, G! Happy birthday, @bjpenndotcom! My coach’s favorite fighter, all time. We studied.” McGregor also replied to an earlier tweet featuring BJ Penn against Joe Stevenson.

BJ Penn replied with a heartfelt message of his own to McGregor. Just like the fans, the former lightweight champion is looking forward to seeing ‘The Notorious’ in action.

Who is the best lightweight of all time?

In light of the recent tweet, there begs to be the question ‘who is the greatest lightweight on the planet?’ Some fans shout by saying the undefeated and undisputed Khabib Nurmagomedov deserves that title. According to some fans, BJ Penn or Frankie Edgar deserve those titles. Nurmagomedov, Penn, Edgar, and Henderson are all considered to be the greatest 155-pounders of all time.

Some fans even gave a shout-out to Dustin Poirier and consider him a legend in this division.’The Diamond’ has an impressive resume in the division with wins over Conor McGregor (twice), Max Holloway (twice), Eddie Alvarez, and Justin Gaethje.
